About WERK for Peace

WERK for Peace is a queer and trans grassroots movement that uses all forms of dance to promote peace. Founded in response to the Pulse Nightclub shooting, WERK takes the dance floor to the streets to occupy space and assert #WeAreHere and #WeWillDance. Their work is about challenging political and social injustice through the body and movement.

Since their inception, WERK for Peace has gained a lot of traction. Most notably, WERK co-led the queer and trans dance protest in front of Mike Pence's house preceding inauguration weekend and the dance protest for the environment in front of Ivanka Trump's house, both of which went viral. They have planned nearly a dozen dance protests and are expanding their work off the street in workshops.

WERK for Peace + FN Creative Console

In the wake of the Pulse Nightclub shooting, WERK for Peace needed a website to launch their movement. In a weekend, WERK for Peace's digital presence came alive and served as the home of the movement. The website uses large banner photos to draw visitors into the site and integrates a number of CRMs to keep visitors engaged in the movement.

A good website can stand the test of volume - and we don't mean awesome hair. When WERK went viral, their site received thousands of hits. However, they didn't have to blink an eye because we build our sites for those moments. The website served as the place for media to contact WERK organizers and for inspired visitors to take action and join the movement.

A year and a half later, FN Creative Console is working with WERK for Peace to revamp the site to aesthetically reflect the reach and breadth of the work, which, due to time constraints, has yet to make it to the site. Stay tuned for the redesign!
